A Different Kind Of LoveThe first people I learned to love were my family
As a child I was mesmerized by their personalities: strong yet silly, independent yet communal, fierce yet protective.
As a teenager, I hoped to be my own person, and make my own indelible and unique mark on the world, and to achieve a sort of immortality in deed like no one else in my bloodline.
As an adult who no longer has his parents, I realize that every bit of who they are seems to be ingrained in me, such that should I accomplish anything, it would likely be only as a result of the wonderful traits I inherited from those loved ones.
